Piha is renowned for its Black-sand beach, its strong surf and rugged scenery.

Lion Rock is a volcanic monolith with war memorials and Maori carvings.

The drive from Auckland takes you through the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park of subtropical native rainforest. Once at Piha you can hike the trails to the spectacular Kitekite waterfall.
