Show your candle some love!

So that you get the very most out of your Piha Candle Co. candle, and soak up its beauty right to the last little flicker, here are some simple guidelines to follow.

1. When lighting your candle for the first time, make sure you let the melt pool reach the edge of the container. This creates a ‘candle memory’ as the wax will reset evenly, so your next burn will light from a level surface. It also prevents the candle burning through the middle – which is known as tunnelling.
   
   
2. Trim the wick before each burn, so it doesn’t get too long and burn through the wax too quickly. The ideal length of your wick should be around 1cm.
   
   
3. Your Piha Candle Co. candle comes with a lid; be sure to pop this on between burns. It will stop the fragrance from evaporating. It will also keep dust and critters from settling on the surface of your candle. 

 

A few safety notes:
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Burn it in a safe place, away from drafts, out of reach of children and animals, and well clear of anything that can catch alight. Ensure that there is plenty of space around your candle when lit. If the flame becomes enlarged, put it out and trim the wick.
